Symbolism

Pug – is a small dog, which symbolizes so many things. Unfortunately, we cannot meet such character in the Slavic culture, but in Chinese mythology and history the pug is a dog, which has long been known as pet of gentlefolks. This marked its characterization as a perfect, that meets all the standards animal, a symbol of the best. Our dog is endowed with live, cheerful and balanced character; it is noble and loyal to his owner. Thus, pug is an embodiment of the best features: prudence and joy, at the same time, devotion and generosity.

History

Pug is an ancient Chinese breed. Even back in the early Chinese manuscripts you can meet these dogs. As already noted, pugs were kept only by aristocracy and in wealthy homes. Wrinkles on the forehead of the pug were called Imperial signs. This breed was very popular about two centuries since the sixteenth century, but gradually fewer pugs could be found in the whole world. 

History says that in the middle of the XIX century the British Queen Victoria wished to have around this breed, but her court hardly hunted up such a dog in the whole world! Who knows, maybe soon it will again be as difficult as earlier to find this dog, so become an owner of at least one of them!
